SecurityGen Ramps Up Commitment to LATAM Market
- Expands Investment and Presence Amidst Buoyant 5G Growth and Developments
29 July 2024 – SecurityGen, an award-winning global telecom cybersecurity company today announced the appointment of Rene Sandoval to bolster its Latin America (LATAM) North Cone operations. This announcement not only reaffirms SecurityGen's steadfast dedication to advancing telecommunications security in the region but also underscores its mission to driving innovation and support the expansion of secure 5G and LTE networks - enhancing partnerships within the dynamic LATAM telecommunications market.

Interestingly, recent estimates from GSMA reveal a dramatic surge in 5G adoption across Latin America, projected to reach 57% penetration by 2030, with 463 million connections anticipated. This exponential growth underscores vast opportunities for cloud and IT transformation within core networks. However, given growing global digital threats to online networks, and the inherently cloud-native and distributed architecture of 5G networks – the need for heightened security measures to safeguard against emerging threats has never been stronger.

According to Amit Nath, co-founder & CEO of SecurityGen, "SecurityGen has witnessed remarkable traction and engagement with top-tier telcos in the region. With a robust presence spanning over 2.5 years, SecurityGen has established itself as a pivotal partner to major telecommunications companies and has significant presence across the region. Moving forward, we are committed to further enhancing our delivery capabilities and remain steadfast in our mission to empower telecom operators with cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions, ensuring resilience and safeguarding next gen digital networks.”

While welcoming Rene, Suen Kar Nyan, Vice President, Global Sales highlighted the strategic importance of the appointment and said, “Rene’s extensive experience in telecommunications and his industry leadership will be invaluable as we expand our reach, deepen engagements and deploy robust security strategies that safeguard 5G networks and legacy infrastructure for our clients."

Rene Sandoval brings over 15 years of comprehensive experience in digital technologies, cybersecurity, as well as deep telecom expertise ranging from LTE, VoLTE, 5G, OSS/BSS, IIoT, Datacom, and IP solutions. His previous roles at industry giants like Ericsson and Nokia underscore his deep understanding of the sector's intricacies.

"I am thrilled to join SecurityGen and drive the company’s expansion into LATAM North Cone during this pivotal time," remarked Rene Sandoval. "The region presents a significant growth opportunity for SecurityGen, especially with the impending 5G deployments. Achieving a balance between innovation and security will be crucial for telcos. With SecurityGen’s extensive portfolio, threat-informed defense platform, expert consulting services and the dedicated 5G Cyber-security training lab for telcos, we are well-positioned to support secure 5G journeys and use cases for telcos and businesses across this region.”

Despite continuous innovations from operators to enhance defenses and controls, the telecom industry faces ever-evolving cyber threats, making network security more important than ever. It is essential for network security controls to evolve proactively to address these growing challenges. Suen Kar Nyan concluded on an optimistic note, saying, "We believe that with our robust portfolio and deep domain knowledge across legacy and 5G technologies, SecurityGen is ideally positioned to partner with regional operators to defend their networks and protect their subscribers and brand."
